Real Madrid’s hierarchy have become “fed up” with Manchester United target Gareth Bale and would be open to letting him leave next summer, according to reports from Spain.
Jose Mourinho has admired Bale for some time, noting in August 2017 that he would pursue Welsh winger if the opportunity presented itself.
There was further speculation this summer but, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane both leaving, Bale opted to remain at the Bernabeu.
But according to Spanish media outlet Telemadrid, representatives at Madrid believe Bale is prioritising himself ahead of club matters. His decision to travel to Wales for their 4-1 defeat to Spain on Friday, despite not being available to play, was not received well by the Champions League winners, who believed Bale should have stayed put in Madrid to work on his recovery.
There is a consensus emerging among the club’s hierarchy that Bale, who has four goals this season, is not doing enough to justify his senior role in the team under Julen Lopetegui. He is thought to be the highest paid player at the club’s following Ronaldo’s departure.
Man United may well decide to spend big on a marquee signing next summer and Bale may well be the man they look to.
