Manchester United are weighing up a cut-price offer for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Ramsey will leave the Emirates for free in the summer after failing to strike an agreement with Arsenal over a new contract.
The Welsh midfielder has been subject to interest from Man United in the past, almost moving to Old Trafford instead of Arsenal as a youngster.
According to the London Evening Standard‘s James Olley, both Liverpool and United are considering taking advantage of the prospect of Arsenal losing Ramsey for free in the summer by making a January bid.
United’s last scoop for an Arsenal player in the January transfer window did not go particularly well. And you get the sense that talk about Ramsey stems less from the fact that United want him and more because it has been recently confirmed that he will not be playing under Unai Emery next year.
Mourinho likes Ramsey as a player but you get the sense he will – assuming he’s still manager – want to focus on bolstering his defence over the January transfer window. United have already conceded 14 goals in the Premier League this season and that, more than anything, is what the boss will seek to rectify.
