Chelsea planning new deal for star defender

Chelsea are planning to hand German defender Antonio Rudiger a new contract in the coming weeks.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to extend his deal at Stamford Bridge following his impressive start to the season.

Rudiger has started every Premier League game for the club this season and has begun to form a good partnership with David Luiz at the heart of Chelsea’s defence.

The German international scored in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the weekend, his fourth goal for the club since joining in the summer of 2017.

Chelsea signed Rudiger from Roma in a deal thought to be worth £29m, following his displays in the Serie A.

He made 45 appearances in all competitions last season under Antonio Conte, playing as part of a back three.

The report claims that he is currently on £100k-per-week, with Chelsea looking to increase his pay.
