Chelsea confirm new deal for Sarri favourite

Chelsea have confirmed that Spanish international defender Marcos Alonso has signed a new contract with the club.

As reported by the club’s official website, the defender has put pen to paper on a new deal, committing his long-term future to the Blues.

Alonso has signed a new deal that will run until 2023 as a reward for his impressive start to the season.

The left-back has been sensational this campaign for the Blues, flourishing under Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea are still unbeaten in all competitions and Alonso has played a pivotal role in maintaining that record over the first few months of the season.

Since joining from Fiorentina in 2016, Alonso has been ever-present for Chelsea and cemented himself as a key player for the club.

In that time, Alonso has won a Premier League title, an FA Cup and was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2017/18 season.
