Reports in Greece suggest that Arsenal star Sokratis Papastathopoulos has picked up an injury while on injury duty (via Sport Witness).
It’s always a worry that a club’s players will get injured while away on international duty and that has happened to the Gunners yet again.
Reports in Greece suggest that Sokratis Papastathopoulos has picked up a knock while away with his country.
The 30-year-old was substituted during Greece’s 2-0 defeat to Finland last night, a match in which former Arsenal youth star Glen Kamara found the back of the net.
According to the Greek outlet Gazzetta.gr, the central defender was substituted by head coach Michael Skibbe after “suffering a sprain.”
The report does not reveal how long Sokratis is expected to be out for.
After a slow start, Sokratis Papastathopoulos has established himself as a key player in this Arsenal side. The Greek international is hugely experienced and has added some much-needed strength and steel to this Arsenal defence. Let’s hope his injury isn’t too severe but even if it is, the Gunners should get by well enough considering Rob Holding’s fine run of form.
