Jesse Lingard and Trent Alexander-Arnold had a humoured dispute over the result in a training exercise with England on Thursday.
The Manchester United forward became a fixture in Jose Mourinho’s side last season and played a fundamental role in England’s journey to a World Cup semi-final over the summer.
He has been training with the national side once again ahead of UEFA Nations League clashes with Spain and Switzerland over the next week.
One training exercise left him and Alexander-Arnold in an argument, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Eric Dier weighing in as well. The full-back insisted on Lingard shaking his hand as the defeated opponent. Lingard said he would only do so if Alexander-Arnold hit the crossbar from distance. What follows is brilliant.

What I like about this is how these England players, World Cup semi-finalists, are essentially no different to how myself and my mates behaved having a kick-about when we were younger. It didn’t cross the line! You fouled him there! You mis-controlled that!
There is also a lesson here: that any dispute, from Trump and Kim Jong-Un arguing over nuclear proliferation and international safety to you and your sibling fighting over the last jaffa cake in the pack, can be somehow resolved by a classic crossbar challenge.
