Manchester United could benefit from AS Roma’s recent poor form as they target director of football Monchi.
The former-Sevilla man has a huge reputation in European football for managing the find exciting young prospects at cheap prices and negotiate deals, both in and out of the club, successfully.
Yet his recent signings in Rome have not made the best of starts and could allow a departure from the club for the Spaniard.
Spanish website El Gol Digital suggest that Monchi could leave the club. Reports in the last couple of weeks have suggested that Monchi’s obvious destination would be Manchester United.
The Reds are also considering bringing Juventus’ Fabio Paratici or RB Leipzig’s Paul Mitchell in as they look to fill a new sporting director role to improve their record in the transfer market.
Monchi is one name on a list, supposedly. El Gol were reporting the links because it would mean Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta would be staying at the club, another name linked with United.
Sport Witness, though, indicate that the reports are limited in their reliability given El Gol’s record. Monchi is certainly a possibility for United, but quite whether this recent report is accurate is not sure. Italian outlets are picking up on it, naturally, but no English papers have done so as of yet.
