Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed how he plans on treating Diogo Dalot, stating fans clearly liked what they saw from their new signing.
The youngster arrived just this summer with the Portuguese boss opting to slowly introduce him to English football.
Dalot was initially unavailable for pre-season and the first month or so of the season due to an injury he sustained before signing.
Mourinho handed him his debut in the clash against Young Boys in the Champions League last week.
Supporters were certainly impressed by what they saw and are eager to see more of him starting with Derby.
According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said: “He played in the U23s, now he plays in the first-team.
“Obviously people liked what they saw in the match against Young Boys. This is an English competition, the different salt and pepper that English competitions have.
“And I think it is good for him, for his development, for him to be ready for the top flight as soon as possible.”
There are plenty of fans hoping Diogo wins over the right-back spot as soon as possible from Antonio Valencia.
The Ecuadorian has shown worrying signs of decline and it’s unlikely to halt anytime soon either.
Valencia’s age appears to have finally become a factor as he now offers very little going forward in comparison to the likes of Luke Shaw for example.
Dalot’s youth was clearly on show against Young Boys with his crossing and defending equally impressive.
It seems as though it’s only a matter of time before he ousts Antonio but supporters are hoping it’s sooner rather than later.
