Arsenal welcome Brentford to the Emirates in the third round of the Carabao Cup, a competition which has often been a place for the Gunners to embed younger players in recent seasons.
However, it was a more experienced head who proved to be the difference between the sides in the first half as Danny Welbeck grabbed two goals to give the Gunners the advantage at the break.
Arsenal’s lead was halved on the hour mark when Brentford’s Alan Judge curled in a fine free-kick to make it 2-1.
The Gunners needed to control the match in the latter stages and they did just that but made sure of the points in stoppage time when substitute Alexandre Lacazette burst clear to make it 3-1.
