There has been a positive update on the fitness of Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira ahead of the Gunners’ trip to Newcastle on the weekend.
It’s natural for players to come out of the international break with some fatigue or even injuries and Arsenal fans feared that a key player had suffered the latter.
Lucas Torreira only lasted 45 minutes of Uruguay’s match with Mexico on the weekend and was spotted with ice on his leg after half-time.
We reported earlier in the week that the former Sampdoria man could miss Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United.
However, today that same journalist, the reliable Ben Dinnery, has claimed that Torreira should, in fact, be fit for the clash on Saturday.
Lucas Torreira is expected to feature on Tyneside this weekend after #URU interim head coach – Fabian Coito – confirmed the Arsenal midfielder was withdrawn as a "precaution" against Mexico due to a'heavy calf'. #AFC

He went on to relay the claim made by Uruguay’s interim head coach, Fabian Coito, that Torreira’s substitution was merely a precaution.
It’s good to hear that Lucas Torreira will be fit for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United. The Uruguayan midfielder has played extremely well this season and will be hoping to make his first Premier League start at the weekend.
