Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is a pleasure to work with, according to England manager Gareth Southgate.
Rashford, 20, scored for the second consecutive game in a Three Lions short on Tuesday evening as Southgate’s England triumphed 1-0 over Switzerland in an international friendly at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.
Having had little time to impress in a Man United shirt this season, Rashford has taken the opportunity of the international break to remind English football fans of his talent.
“I’m really pleased for him. We know how exciting he is, we know that he’s going to be a top player,” Southgate told Sky Sports.
“He’s got a super mentality, he’s great to work with.
“To get two goals this week, two really good finishes, is really important for him.”
Southgate has praised Rashford readily this week, and is keen for the issue of playing time not to overshadow the discussion of Rashford’s impressive performances.
The Wythenshawe-born forward was sent off for United in the club’s final fixture before the international break, a comfortable 2-0 away victory against Burnley.
That means he’ll miss the next three domestic games for United, matches against Watford and Wolves in the league as well as the League Cup Third Round s Derby County.
He can be selected for United’s opening UEFA Champions League game of the season, against Swiss side Young Boys.
