Former-Celtic defender Mo Camara has revealed that Kieran Tierney has been scouted extensively by Manchester United.
Already a Celtic hero, Tierney has attracted huge interest from English Premier League clubs for the last couple of years.
The 21-year-old has been linked with Man United, Tottenham Hotspur and, most recently, Everton. He recently showed his commitment to his boyhood club with a new six-year deal at Celtic.
Tierney constantly reminds Celtic fans that he’s utterly devoted to the club and has no interest in leaving. But that hasn’t stopped United from scouting him, it’s been revealed.
Camara, who played for Celtic in the mid-2000s, told The Sun that he does “some scouting for Manchester United and scouted for Sunderland and we followed Kieran Tierney loads.”
“He’s a very good left-back – he will go for big money if and when Celtic decide to sell.
“It’s one of those where the fans, manager and the chairman – none of them will want Tierney sold.
“But in Scotland, the English Premier League’s next door and everyone wants to be there. At some point, the player and club will have to see a move as a possibility for him.
“He’ll want to test himself at a high level. He’d definitely be playing for a top five or six team in the Premier League.”
United will have certainly been interested in Tierney when they were looking for a new left-back, but may not be anymore.
Mourinho has given Luke Shaw a chance to re-assert himself as the number one choice in that position in the team and Shaw has taken it so far this season.
Though now injured for the next two games, Shaw was named the club’s August Player of the Month after some fantastic performances. If he can keep up his good form, it’s unlikely United would make a move for Tierney because Shaw is just 23, only two years old than Tierney, and can be a long-term first-choice.
