Unai Emery has claimed that Danny Welbeck could be in line for a starting spot in the Premier League on Saturday (via Arsenal.com).
He was one of the standout players on the night as Danny Welbeck scored two goals in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Brentford on Wednesday night.
The Englishman grabbed a brace before half-time in the Carabao Cup clash but is yet to feature in the Premier League.
Now, head coach Unai Emery has claimed that could soon change.
“Tonight, it’s a good performance from every player and also Danny Welbeck, he worked with two goals, helping us,” Emery said after the match.
“And for Saturday, he’s also another player that I can try, to help the first XI because he’s doing very well, with a big commitment.
“But also, I want the first XI with the performance and I want other players [on the bench], when I am looking back I want to see good players looking forward to help the game for us.”
Danny Welbeck has shown his quality in cup competitions so far this season. It’s just a shame for the Englishman that he is competing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a starting spot. Perhaps the former Manchester United man could come in for Aaron Ramsey in the starting spot on Saturday.
