Dimitar Berbatov has insisted neither Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho should leave Manchester United, describing the current talk surrounding the pair as mere speculation.
Pogba has infuriated supporters by recently refusing to rule out the prospect of leaving Man United in the near future.
“My future is currently in Manchester,” he said. “I still have a contract, I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.”
The comment has been seen by many as poorly timed: this was Pogba’s first interview since his agent Mino Raiola attacked Paul Scholes, a club legend, on Twitter and has come at a time when Jose Mourinho and his team find themselves under enormous pressure following a difficult start to the season.
But Berbatov, always a calming influence, has insisted the talk over the pair has been seriously overblown.
“Neither of them should go, it’s all just speculation and it’s not helping,” he said. “The focus needs to change to football there.”
“At a big club there are always going to be issues and you will always have players with big egos who want to win and sometimes this can create friction between the players or with the manager but it’s normal in football clubs especially a big successful club.
“When you are a grown up man you know how to deal with a situation like this, but if those outside the club are constantly talking about it and coming up with stories then it’s not helping anyone.

If you step back for a second it becomes clear that Pogba’s quotes are not that of an insurgent hellbent on destroying the fabric of this club, like many are suggesting. He probably should have disregarded the question, or simply not answered it.
But he is not being intentionally cryptic. All he is saying is this: I don’t know what will happen in the future. He has come out with quotes like these before.
As Berbatov says, there is really no need to start panicking now.
