Alvaro Morata has revealed that he considered leaving Chelsea over the summer off the back of a disappointing campaign in England.
Speaking to reporters after joining up with the Spanish national side, as reported by Football Espana, the striker hinted that a possible return to Italy or Spain was certainly on the cards.
Last year I was not happy, everything was a disaster – I went out onto the pitch and did not know where I was. Leaving Chelsea? I considered playing in Spain again and going back to Italy but now I have stayed here and need to bounce back.
The striker was heavily linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer, with Milan the most likely destination for the player.
Calciomercato report that a move to San Siro only fell through because of the change of ownership over the summer.
The new owners pushed for a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain as part of the deal to take Leonardo Bonucci back to Juventus.
Chelsea themselves were linked with Higuain during the offseason, which cast further doubts over Morata’s future.
