Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has claimed that he is very happy working under Maurizio Sarri.
Alonso says that he is delighted to be coached by Sarri, who he feels is similar to Spain’s manager Luis Enrique.
Sarri was appointed as Chelsea’s new head coach after Antonio Conte left the club.
Conte brought Alonso to Chelsea and managed to get the best out of him as a left wing-back.
Alonso has now switched to left-back in a conventional four-back formation and is enjoying a rich vein of form.
In four Premier League matches, Alonso has contributed to five goals – one goal and four assists.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Alonso said this:
Things are working really well with Sarri. I am very happy and with Luis Enrique I can see many similarities.
It’s modern football – having the ball, controlling the game, and being well positioned when you lose possession. Both when you defend and when you attack it needs to be about possession and positioning is vital. The Chelsea training sessions are like the Spain ones – possession, bringing the ball out, lots of similar concepts.
Alonso was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier in the summer, but is committed to the Chelsea cause.
