Pundit Graeme Souness believes the Manchester United players are not happy at the club at the moment along with their manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese boss stirred up a storm by showing up to his pre-match press conference early and leaving within five minutes time.
Mourinho’s treatment of the media as United manager is a far cry from the way he initially interacted with the press in his first spell with Chelsea.
Souness believes the former Real Madrid man sets the tone with his players and since he’s unhappy in front of the media, the players must be unhappy as well.
Jose’s early and quick press conference meant a lot of journalists scheduled for it didn’t even catch any of what was said.
According to This Is Futbol, Graeme said to the Sun: “I’ve been in a dug-out opposite him but I don’t really know him. He looks unhappy in his job. The manager sets the tone at the football club.
“Every day he turns up for work it’s all about the mood he’s setting. Right now, the players are not enjoying that environment.”
Only Mourinho and the players truly know what the mood’s like at Old Trafford but it’s a little naive for Souness to believe what he sees.
He could simply be presenting himself to the media as a grumpy, frustrated person at the moment in order to not deal with them.
After all, why would Jose wish to deal with the same people who criticise him constantly and practically hope he loses his job?
The players themselves such as Fred or Andreas Pereira have insisted the mood is happy at the club and have revealed the manager is actually a happy person behind closed doors.
