Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho didn’t shy away from praising Russian star Aleksandr Golovin as reports continue to surface on a potential transfer.
The Portuguese manager is said to be interested in the midfielder following his performances for his nation at the World Cup and is keen to add him to the squad.
Mourinho has already signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant but it’s the former’s signing that makes the links with Golovin suspicious.
With the Brazilian a part of the United team and Marouane Fellaini renewing his contract, there doesn’t appear to be any room for the CSKA Moscow man.
Nonetheless, what the former Real Madrid boss said wouldn’t have helped the rumours and should Aleksandr be listening, he’ll certainly be flattered.
According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said to Russia Today: “If they [Russian kids] look for example to Golovin, if they look to him, the first touch, the first control, the speed of the pass, always correct.”
Golovin has been central to his country’s success at the World Cup so far, helping them reach the quarter finals of the competition where they will come up against an impressive Croatian side.
It could be that once the tournament is over Mourinho will step up his interest in the attacking midfielder but as of now there’s no official news on whether the interest is real or not.
