Romelu Lukaku has admitted that making team-mates around him play better is his strong point after heavily contributing to another excellent Belgium performance in the World Cup.
Belgium travelled to Russia for the tournament merely as dark horses but have now booked a semi-final clash against neighbours France after beating favourites to lift the trophy Brazil 2-1 on Friday night.
Lukaku once again turned heads throughout a match which many are calling his best in the national shirt, despite not scoring, as he showed all of his best traits at the highest capacity and provided a wonderful assist for the second goal.
After the full-time whistle, the 25-year-old striker took time in the mixed zone to speak with Sporza and answered a few different questions.
Lukaku’s pace, power and scoring ability make him one of the most potent frontmen in the world, but when asked what he believed his strongest trait was he went with a selfless response.
“My all-round game has always been my strong point. I try to make other players better. I want to score as much as possible and give as many assists.”
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne netted Belgium’s second goal but it all came through Lukaku, who picked the ball up inside his own half, paced forward 70 yards whilst powering past his opponents before laying it off.
It’s exciting to see the Manchester United no. 9 enjoying such a good World Cup campaign and he’ll hopefully be able to continue his form into the 2018-19 season.
