Bojan Djordic has picked out Manchester United star Victor Lindelof as the best Swedish player following his performances for his nation at the World Cup.
The defender was crucial in his side’s unexpected quarter-final run where their tournament was cut short by Gareth Southgate’s England.
Lindelof was one of United’s players who left the competition with a better reputation than when he entered it and certainly did enough to impress plenty of people.
Jose Mourinho must’ve been watching the centre-back play as he consistently put in top performances for Sweden that couldn’t have gone under the radar.
Djordic believes there were plenty of quality players from the nation but that it was Victor who impressed the most on international football’s grandest stage.
According to Manchester Evening News, Bojan said: “Victor has been the pick of the bunch [of the Sweden side].
“People speak about our captain, Granqvist, because he’s been like a cult hero after Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] and all that, but Victor has been amazing.”
Just like with Paul Pogba, there’s plenty of hope Lindelof can carry the form experienced with his international team to his club side.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of a starting XI with solid, quality defenders following the erratic, injury prone ones experienced for last few years now.
Victor was one of Mourinho’s two centre-back signings since joining the club with the other being Eric Bailly and the hope is the two can finally establish themselves in the starting XI.
