Italian side eyeing swoop for Chelsea forward

Napoli are considering a move for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to Rai Sport, via Calcio Mercato.

The report claims that Napoli could look to replace Dries Mertens with Morata over the coming months.

Dries Mertens has attracted interest from his performances over the last couple of seasons in the Serie A, but lost his place in the starting line-up for Belgium over the course of the World Cup this summer.

If Mertens does move on, Napoli will look to make an offer for Morata, who joined Chelsea last summer from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of £60m – a club-record deal.

Morata scored 15 goals in all competitions for Chelsea, which included 11 in the Premier League.

The Spanish international was in Italy for two years with Juventus and is reportedly interested in moving back to the country.
