Italian giants Roma have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Napoli forward Dries Mertens this summer.
According to Calcio Mercato, Roma are now showing an interest in Mertens and could now challenge Chelsea for his signature.
The report claims, however, claims that Roma will only make a move for Mertens once they sell Alisson.
Chelsea are thought to have agreed a deal to sign the Brazilian goalkeeper from Roma, with a decision expected after the World Cup.
Mertens has a €28m release clause in his Napoli contract, which can only be activated by teams outside of Italy, given Chelsea an edge over Roma.
The forward is currently in Russia playing his part for Belgium in the World Cup, meaning Chelsea may have to wait until after the tournament to seal a deal.
The 31-year-old scored 22 goals last season, after scoring 34 in all competitions in the 2016/17 campaign.
