Ashley Young looks set to feature against Sweden in the World Cup quarter-final after training with the England team on Thursday.
The 32-year-old, who has started all of England’s games at these finals barring the Belgium defeat, was forced off during the win over Colombia with an ankle problem.
It was reported the morning after that medical staff would wait 24 hours before determining the severity of Young’s injury.
And it looks like good news for the Manchester United left-back, with Sky Sports confirming he would train with the England team on Thursday ahead of flying to Samara tomorrow.

Ashley Young playing in a World Cup quarter-final. Ashley Young playing in a bloody World Cup quarter final. Say it over and over again in your head. Try and wrap your head around it. Keep saying it. Each time, it gets weirder, more nonsensical, more like some kind of strange version of Football Manager. How has any of this happened?
But he has earned it. Say what you like about Young’s credentials as Man United’s first choice left-back. That’s a question for further down the line. But nobody can deny the spirit and grit which has brought him here. A year ago he had made 12 Premier League appearances all season and was being linked with Stoke, his last England appearance dating back four years ago.
He is a living testament to the notion that, in football as in life, hard work eventually pays off.
