Manchester United have reportedly targeted Philipp Max as their main man for the left-back position as Jose Mourinho steps up his efforts to reinforce his defence.
The Portuguese manager has made it publicly clear that he will focus on his midfield and defence this summer and so far he’s been true to his word.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred is a midfielder and Porto’s Diogo Dalot is a full-back with both being signed in quick succession recently.
Augsburg’s Max is said to have had a fantastic season in Germany and so he’s done enough to convince Mourinho to sign him.
United’s left-back problem has not been a secret with Luke Shaw failing to live up to his potential so far and Ashley Young being a veteran former winger.
According to Fanchester United, Jose has had his eye on Philipp for a while now and believes he’s their solution to their left-back woes but will need to spend £35m in order to sign him.
The price being touted doesn’t seem much considering what’s being thrown around in today’s market but fans will be concerned he’s a relative unknown.
Alex Sandro was reported to be Manchester United’s first choice but apparently Mourinho’s been priced out of a move.
