Maurizio Sarri is closing in on the Chelsea job and he is putting plans in place to organise his backroom staff at Stamford Bridge.
Football Italia reports that his current backroom staff will remain at Napoli to work with the club’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The news has prompted Sarri to begin his search for a new number two and Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has been linked with the position.
Zola is said to be one of the names under consideration, while Giovanni Martusciello, who Sarri worked with at Empoli could follow him to Stamford Bridge.
After a turbulent managerial career, Zola has often been linked with moves back to Stamford Bridge in different capacities.
Having someone with the status of Zola alongside him will only benefit Sarri’s settling in period in London.
Most of Antonio Conte’s coaching team are likely to follow the Italian out of Stamford Bridge, although goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli is one member of the staff that is likely to stay at Chelsea.
