Manchester United fans were furious after the clash with Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley and they directed most of their frustrations towards Phil Jones, who they believe shouldn’t have started the match.
The Englishman started the fixture in defence playing alongside Chris Smalling, who’s another player who has been heavily criticised this season but it was the former who caused a stir with his performance.
Supporters were not happy that Jones gave away the penalty that gave the Blues the lead as United struggled to recover from conceding the first goal of the game with Eden Hazard being the player to cause the damage.
Fans were displeased with how their players performed in general in the first half but it was the centre-back who caught most of the heat due to his poor display that forced the players to try to turn the game on it’s head.
Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo were both fit for the final but were not selected with Jose Mourinho opted to go with a partnership that’s been used for much of the season.
There’s no excuse not to play Bailly. The World Cup squads have been announced. Jones is going, Smalling isn’t. You have to play your best players. #mufc

We go through this cycle with Jones of a few good weeks then a catastrophic mistake followed by a few good weeks then another catastrophic mistake. Question is with the level we want to get to can we afford to put up with his monthly blunders?
