It is Arsenal’s biggest match at the Emirates Stadium since the Champions League semi-final against Manchester United nine years ago.
The Gunners welcome Atletico Madrid to the Emirates and have been handed a major boost ahead of the clash with a number of first team players returning to training.
Petr Cech, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil all missed Sunday’s 4-1 victory over West Ham United but have been pictured in action at the club’s training ground in London Colney.
Wenger was not asked about the players’ availability in the pre-match press conference but did provide a disappointing update on the condition of Mohamed Elneny.
“Mkhitaryan is not back in the squad and Mohamed Elneny is out for the rest of the season,” Wenger told the press.
“He has a little chance to play at Huddersfield. I think he will be available for Egypt at the World Cup.”
It’s a shame that Mohamed Elneny will miss the rest of the season but it’s good to see the rest of these Arsenal first-teamers back in action. Mesut Ozil will obviously start tomorrow night if fully fit but there is uncertainty about whether Petr Cech and Jack Wilshere will do the same. We can only wait and see.
