Mourinho reveals what he asked Pogba to do more often after Man City win

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he asked Paul Pogba to be more consistent following his incredible performance vs Manchester City.

The Frenchman inspired Manchester United to a comeback win over their fierce rivals to deny them the Premier League crown.

Mourinho’s men were trailing 2-0 at half time but came out with their guns blazing in the second half to secure a 3-2 victory.

Pogba scored a brace to singlehandedly life his team up before Chris Smalling grabbed the winner to send the fans into mayhem.

The Portuguese manager though has insisted he didn’t ask a lot of the former Juventus man and simply called for more consistent performances.

According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said: “I told him [Pogba] after the City match that I don’t expect him to be man of the match or to score two goals every week.

“I told him to be consistent in a certain level. That’s the challenge he has to put to himself, to keep a certain stability, not have the good match, the so-so match and the bad match.

“I think he has to keep that stability and with that will appear the special match like it happened against City. He really has to try to go for that stability and the first thing is stability at training level.

“Stability in the working week and for the last few weeks I’m really happy with him.”

Asking for consistency in performances from Paul is certainly not a lot to ask and especial since Jose Mourinho isn’t expected match winning performances every week.

This is quite revealing in terms of how the former Real Madrid manager feels the talented midfielder’s previous performances were.

Mourinho insisted there was no falling and that Paul Pogba was simply underperforming so the recent improved performances and increased appearances certainly follows that trail.

The playmaker will have to prove his consistency today afternoon as well with Manchester United set to take on West Brom in the Premier League.

Pogba can lead his side to victory against the Baggies and it’s quickly become clear that when he plays well, his teammates also do.

Jose must address this issue for whenever his player is out of form or injured so United can also show some consistency next season.
