Andreas Pereira has made a return to action for Valencia during their 1-0 win over Leganes following two months on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
The Brazilian, following an impressive spell at Granada the season before, joined Los Che in September and made 21 appearances in all competitions.
But his promising run of games under new boss Marcelino came to an end following a tackle from Sergi Roberto on February 1, which caused a post-traumatic strain in the vastus intermedius with an intramuscular bruise and a contusion in his left thigh.
Thankfully, however, he was back in action for Valencia on Sunday, replacing Paris Saint Germain loanee Goncalo Guedes with ten minutes left.
Valencia are all but guaranteed to finish in the Champions League places having established a 15 point lead over fifth placed Villarreal, sitting just one point behind Real Madrid.
And supporters will be glad to see Pereira, who has featured out wide for Valencia this season, return for the final eight games of the La Liga campaign. He has continued to mature on the pitch and his side’s quick, propulsive passing style would have only further helped to refine his game.
That said, he is unlikely to displace the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford out wide next term. Jose Mourinho, who opposed his decision to go out on loan, would no doubt have wanted to see him feature in a central role at the Mestalla, but this has been largely impossible given the highly successful partnership of Geoffrey Kondogbia and Carlos Soler in the middle.
