Manchester United target Kieran Tierney has ruled out the prospect of leaving Celtic over the summer.
Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for reinforcements at left-back over the summer after once again pushing Luke Shaw to the sidelines, while Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are both leaving in the summer.
Tierney has been a regular in the Celtic side since 2015 and Man United, according to reports, have lined up a bid for him ahead of the transfer window.
But the 20-year-old, when asked about his future, made it clear that he wanted to commit his long term future to playing for the Glaswegian outfit.
“I’m not thinking about anyone other than Celtic just now,” he said. “I’m enjoying my career here; I’ve just signed a six-year deal, so if that doesn’t say long-term, I don’t know what does.”
Tierney provides the blueprint for what United essentially need more of at full-back next season: more pace, more overlapping runs, better delivery, better energy. But he supports Celtic and, in his eyes, is living the dream.
That said, United at least appear to be on the right sort of track. There is a clear dearth in thrust or innovation in the full-back area and that, above anything, needs to be ruthlessly addressed in the summer.
