Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has begun negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a summer switch to France’s Ligue 1, according to MailOnline.
The Belgian ‘keeper, who is expected to star for his country at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, has just over 18 months left on his contract, and is stalling on signing a new deal with the Blues.
Despite signing for Chelsea in 2011, the 25-year old has only been a regular for the Blues since the 2014/15 season, having spent three years on loan with Spanish giants Atlético Madrid.
After spending four years in London, Courtois is eyeing a move away from Stamford Bridge, and reports in France identify PSG as the leading contender.
RMC Sport claim that Courtois is impressed by the Parisian project, and is keen on linking up with the club, with discussions now underway.
Unai Emery has led his men to a strong position in Ligue 1 this season, with the Parisians currently sitting atop the table, 14 points ahead of second place Monaco with six games to go.
Despite this, heavily speculation in recent months have claimed that Emery could be set to leave Parc des Princes this summer, with Thomas Tuchel the frontrunner to replace him.
Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to negotiate this summer, and would rather keep the Belgian for the following season and allow him to leave for free in 2019.
However with Chelsea’s hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season looking remote, Courtois may not be willing to remain with the club.
