Edin Dzeko is happy that he turned down a January move to Chelsea after Roma took their place in the Champions League Semi-Finals.
Dzeko put Roma on their way to a shocking victory over Barcelona, that saw Roma through to the final four in Europe.
Speaking to Mediaset, Dzeko talked about how he was glad he rejected a January move to Chelsea.
Now I can play in the semifinal too, I’m not interested in money. It was not easy, but I stayed here for this kind of game. I’m happy and I think the club are too.
The former Manchester City striker was linked with a move, but would turn it down. Chelsea would sign Olivier Giroud instead, but the Frenchman has struggled since.
Dzeko could not hide his joy at leading Roma to the Semi-Finals of the Champions League.
Speaking to UEFA, Dzeko said:
You cannot imagine, I mean it was incredible, crazy — I don’t know how to describe it,” he said. “At the end, we did it when definitely nobody believed in us. Obviously, we had to believe, even before the game.
If we wanted to try something, we knew that we were playing against one of the biggest teams and obviously the first goal helped us a lot, pushed us forward even more with our great fans behind us. We did it all together.
