Chelsea FC have responded to rumours that manager Antonio Conte has been sacked, telling journalists that the talk of the Italian’s departure isn’t accurate and that things are ‘business at usual’ at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s chances of playing Champions League football look all but dead after their 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday and as such, rumours started circulating on social media that Conte has been sacked.
However, as reported by the Mirror’s Darren Lewis, Cheslea have denied the stories.
Twitter: No, Antonio Conte has not left Chelsea. Told it is business as usual and no truth in suggestions otherwise. (@MirrorDarren)
Whilst a place in the top four looks of of reach, Chelsea still have an FA Cup semi-final clash with Southampton to prepare for and even if Conte does look likely to leave, it’s hard to imagine that he would be sacked before that game.
Plenty of reports suggest that current Juventus boss Max Allegri will be the man to replace Conte in the Stamford Bridge hottest but, if that is to be the case, it will be in the summer.
