Manchester United target Ryan Sessegnon has made it clear that he will reject any interest from top clubs in the summer, outlining an aim to play for Fulham in the Premier League instead.
The 17-year-old erupted onto the scene with a hat-trick against Cardiff City last season and has been a fundamental presence for Fulham this term, making 43 appearances and claiming 14 goals from the left hand side.
His progress at Craven Cottage over the last year or so has inevitably piqued the interest of Man United, Tottenham Hotspur and even Real Madrid.
But Sessegnon, when asked about his future, insisted he was, above anything, determined to play in the Premier League with Fulham, who are one point behind second placed Cardiff in the Championship as it stands.
“I just want to play in the Premier League with Fulham,” he said.
“I have been at the club since the age of eight. It has been a dream to play in the Premier League with Fulham. We are so very close I just want to get over the line. Hopefully we do it automatic but if not then via the play-offs.”
Sessegnon is still just 17 and will, in turn, not make any rash decisions over his future any time soon. He came through the ranks at Fulham and is now their star, their top scorer, their ever present source of energy down the left (he has missed just 99 minutes of football this season).
Needless to say, the Championship club will not entertain the prospect of letting him leave. But his performances this year – which have earned him a place on the shortlist for PFA Young Player of the Year – are undoubtedly befitting of a move to bigger things in the future. United will need to be alert to his movements.
