Mourinho dismisses Man Utd's top 4 doubters

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been busy discussing his team’s chances of securing a top 4 spot in this Premier League season.

The club’s competitors are Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool for the three remaining spots left behind Manchester City’s first place.

The Sky Blues have secured top spot and it’s unlikely anyone will be able to dethrone them, leaving just three spots for five sides.

Arsene Wenger’s Gunners have been underperforming once more this season and are likely to miss out on Europe’s elite competition next year once more.

Mourinho though believes his side are better than any of the aforementioned teams other than City who have blown everyone else out of the water.

Speaking on the Champions League qualifications spots, Jose said: “The gap is a short gap between second and fifth is really really short. It’s really open for everyone. But all four we are in the Champions League still, we have other focus and targets.

“All of us very good teams. I read that the others are better than us, but that’s not the reality. From my personal point of view second is better than third.”

Liverpool have had another decent season but it will only be considered a success should they qualify for the Champions League once more.

Their efforts in front of goal have been rightfully praised but it’s their defence that raises questions even with the addition of Virgil Van Dijk in the January transfer window.

Tottenham have huge pressure on their shoulders as Mauricio Pochettino knows anything short of European football will be considered as regression and he could potentially lose his job or his star players at the very least.

Chelsea haven’t had the most successful of title defences but fans appear willing to be satisfied so long as they remain in the Champions League next season.

United managed to beat the Blues in a crucial clash and the effects of that loss are yet to be seen on Antonio Conte’s men.
