Man Utd star believes he's improved since joining the club

Manchester United star Victor Lindelof believes he’s gotten even better since joining the club during last summer’s transfer window.

The Swede has struggled to immediately have an impact on the first team but is slowly getting opportunities to prove his worth.

Jose Mourinho was the manager to invest in him and so cannot use the excuse of the club’s predecessors passing players onto him.

Lindelof’s ability on the ball is believed to be the main reason why he was brought into the club and fans have certainly noticed how he’s head and shoulders above the other centre-backs.

The defender has had plenty of competition for his position but will gain confidence from his recent improvement in minutes on the pitch.

According to the club’s official website, Victor said to MUTV: “I’m always happy to help the team. As a player, you always want to play games and that’s what I’ve been doing over the last few games and I’m very happy that I can help the team on the pitch.

“I think it’s [adapting’s] been good. I think everywhere you go, it’s always going to take some time to adapt but I feel good.

“Every day I work out and I work hard to try to help the team. I’m always trying to be myself on the pitch and trying to do what I think I can do well.

“Of course, I think I’ve become a better player since I came here. I’m basically still the same type of player as I was when I came here, so I’m just trying to improve on those things that I’m already good at. I think I develop every day.”

Victor Lindelof has Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly to compete with for a place in the first team.

While the Ivorian is expected to be his eventual partner, it could be the case where Mourinho prefers a different centre-back pairing.

There is also the lurking threat of on-loan Axel Tuanzebe returning and stealing a spot for himself, especially as he’s highly rated by the club’s staff.

Daley Blind has also proven to be a versatile centre-back if need be but it appears as though he’s fallen far from Jose’s good graces.

Lindelof has recently taken advantage of his teammates injuries and would do well to continue performing so that he sets up his next season to be a top one.
