Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic has encouraged his teammates to fight until the end of the season in their bid for glory.
Jose Mourinho’s men are still currently in the FA Cup and Champions League competitions with the Premier League largely out of sight.
Fierce rivals and league leaders Manchester City are over ten points away in first place with United trailing in second.
Mourinho has publicly admitted defeat in the title race, perhaps to make the Citizens complacent, but the truth is their efforts are better spent elsewhere.
An FA Cup win and second placed finish represents improvement as well as a decent season ahead of the true challenge next campaign.
According to the official Manchester United website, Nemanja said “For sure, I’m always positive, I know that in the league the gap is too big, but we have to fight until the end, and we also have Champions League, FA Cup, there are many things we have to do.
“I’m sure we’ll give our best, 100 per cent we will stay focused until the end. Who knows what can happen in football? Everything is possible.
“I try to do my best for the team and for the club, and I hope the supporters and the club are happy with my work. I will continue to work hard to improve, and we will see at the end of the season where we are.
“But, as I said, I will try to give my best, not try to, I will give my best, and we will see if that’s going to be enough.”
Matic has been a huge part of United’s season, featuring in the majority of matches with even some sections of fans calling for him to be rested to ensure he continues performing.
Against his former club Chelsea, the Serbian put in perhaps his best display so far as the Red Devils secured a crucial comeback win.
Jose’s players fell behind thanks to Willian’s effort but Romelu Lukaku managed to equalise just before the break to leave things in the balance.
Jesse Lingard scored the winner just 11 minutes after being substituted onto the field much to the delight of the home supporters.
Nemanja played his part that match by starting in a not previously seen 4-4-2 diamond formation that ultimately proved to be successful.
Starting alongside Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Alexis Sanchez, the former Chelsea man gave his teammates the platform to go on and win the match for the team.
