Danny Welbeck has responded to the rumours that there are serious problems in the Arsenal dressing room (via Sky Sports).
It’s clear to see that things are not right at Arsenal right now, even without the reports of dressing room disharmony.
So when news broke last week that many of the Arsenal players turned on the likes of Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for underperforming, few were surprised.
Well, now a member of the dressing room has responded to these reports for the first time and dismissed them as false.
“There’s no split in the camp. I didn’t even know about that story until now,” Danny Welbeck said in an interview with Sky Sports News.
“I’ve not really seen much of the criticism. I can imagine it’s not been great because with the results and being at Arsenal, it’s not good enough so it’s not something where I’ve sat down and read through newspapers and stuff but we know we should be doing much better than where we are.”
Welbeck also had some things to say about the side’s current form and how they plan to turn things around.
“The fans are hurting, everyone involved around the club is hurting and we feel a lot of disappointment and that’s something we have to put right. It’s been a difficult period but going into the next match, it’s something we want to turn into a positive result for us.
“I think you’ve got to be united in these situations. Unity is strength and division is weakness in this sort of period and I think if we can stay together and we stand up and fight, which is what we need to do at the moment.”
It’s interesting to hear about these reports from a player within the dressing room. It was hardly likely that Danny Welbeck would come out to the press and confirm that all of the rumours were true but still, they are some interesting quotes.
