Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes his former club got the ‘right result’ against Sevilla in the Champions League knockout stages.
Jose Mourinho’s men faced off against the Spanish side away from home but only managed to come away with a goalless draw much to the disappointment of fans.
Some supporters believed United didn’t play well enough and could’ve potentially walked away with a couple of away goals to help their efforts in the second leg.
Mourinho will know his side must not concede at all costs against Sevilla with a goalscoring draw enough to knock the home team out of the competition on away goals.
Scholes though is one of the few pundits who thinks the result wasn’t ideal but that it was still good enough and expects his former team to still go through to the next round.
According to Goal, Paul said: “I think they [United] will be a bit different, you’re always a little bit different at home.
“It’s always quite difficult when you go away from home and Sevilla are no mugs, they’ve won the Europa League a few times and they’re playing in a top league with some top teams so it was always going to be difficult.
“They didn’t play probably as well as they would have wanted to but they’ve got the right result and you’d expect them to go through in the second game.”
The Red Devils were far from perfect in their first leg vs the La Liga side and it was the performance that irritated fans more so than the actual result.
Jose’s men looked bereft of any creativity or ideas and were hardly dominant against a team they were expected to beat.
Some supporters are also concerned with Manchester United’s shaky defence, believing that it wouldn’t be difficult for Sevilla to break them down at Old Trafford.
Although statistically the club have one of the best defensive records in the Premier League, many fans believe that it has a lot to do with how the former Chelsea manager sets his team up as well as David de Gea‘s incredible talent.
