Sergio Romero 6 – Looked tentative gathering a couple of long range drives but didn’t look too troubled by Yeovil’s aerial threat.
Matteo Darmian 5 – Another display where it seemed as if the Italian was running with a piano on his back. Found himself outpaced by Jordan Green early on and never convinced on the ball.
Victor Lindelof 5 – Looked rusty on his first start in almost three weeks, allowing Yeovil’s forwards to bully him in the first half. Positional sense and decision making seemed erratic at times.
Marcos Rojo 6 – A solid outing for the Argentine: never looked overwhelmed by the home side’s physical presence and diffused situations well.
Luke Shaw 6 – This was a comparatively conservative display from the Englishman going forward, but he hardly let anything down his side.
Michael Carrick 6 – The occasional moment of rustiness was bound to happen on his first game since September, but you could see the 36-year-old getting into that wonderful groove of his the longer he was on the point. Great to have him back.
Ander Herrera 6.5 – Sent a message to Jose Mourinho with a diligent, battling display in the middle, capped off with a well taken goal in the second half.
Scott McTominay 6.5 – Struggled to express himself during a frenetic start but eventually started to enter his flow on the ball, bringing play forward with intent and matching Yeovil physically.
Juan Mata 6 – Started quietly but picked up some good positions as the game went on. Displayed superb composure controlling a clearance in the lead-up to Herrera’s goal.
Marcus Rashford 7 – For a player deprived of minutes and goals in recent times, this was an important showing of perseverance and execution at N0.9, who did brilliantly to forge Manchester United’s opener.
Alexis Sanchez 7.5 – From minute one, this was the Alexis show. The Chilean, on his debut, nutmegged a Yeovil player with his first touch and continued in the same vein, popping up at will to carve out attacking movements and set up Man United’s first opening two goals. A convincing start.
Substitutes
Romeu Lukaku 7 – Produced some good link-up play when he came on and, as usual, made his mark with a late goal.
Jesse Lingard 7 – Immediately put a tiring Yeovil side to the sword after replacing Sanchez and ripped through their defence to add United’s third.
Angel Gomes 6 – The 17-year-old received a brief cameo towards the end and nearly forged a goal out of nothing within seconds. Certainly one to watch.
