Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has made his aims for the season clear after his performance vs Yeovil Town in the FA Cup.
The Red Devils were away from home as they defeated their opponents 4-0 with goals coming from the Spaniard, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard.
Although Yeovil proved to be stubborn, they eventually gave way after Jose Mourinho’s side flexed their muscles in a match that will also be remembered for being Alexis Sanchez’s debut.
The Chilean should’ve been credited with two assists after a bright display but will only get one in his first appearance for his new team.
Herrera though, who also managed to score vs Yeovil the last time the two clubs met, was happy for all the landmarks on the occasion and even set a trophy target.
According to the club’s official website, Ander said to MUTV: “I think the one I scored three seasons ago was more beautiful, but a goal is a goal and I am very happy.
“I also played my 150th game for the club and that is not easy to do for the greatest club in the country.
“We have won the FA Cup two seasons ago and last season we won three trophies, so this club is about titles, and we are not going to give any competition away, we are going to fight for everything.”
United have only technically been knocked out of one competition in the form of the Carabao Cup but it’s unlikely they’ll win everything else available to them.
Realistically the Champions League is out of the equation for Mourinho’s side whilst fierce rivals Manchester City maintain a 12 point gap in the Premier League.
Whilst expectations are that Manchester United will attempt to challenge until the last day of the season, it’s also unlikely that City will drop that many points.
That leaves the club with just the FA Cup to seriously contend with and had one asked fans if they would’ve taken an FA Cup win and a 2nd placed finish, perhaps most would agree it would count as a respectable season.
