Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not close to striking a deal with Arsenal that would allow Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester United, according to the BBC.
Man United have entered pole position to sign the Chile international after offering Arsenal £35m and the Armenian’s services.
But his agent, Mino Raiola, confirmed on Tuesday that any deal for Sanchez hinges on Mkhitaryan agreeing to move the other way.
And according to the BBC‘s Simon Stone, Mkhitaryan’s former club Borussia Dortmund have dropped their interest in signing him and the 28-year-old is in no rush to agree a deal with Arsenal.
No agreement in place or close for Mkhitaryan to join Arsenal from Man Utd in Sanchez swap. He holds key & still mulling over #AFC / other clubs / staying #MUFC – if agrees to Arsenal, can happen quickly. Doesn’t see eye to eye with Mourinho but not desperate to go at all costs http://pic.twitter.com/n95zzQzYdg

The Armenian has endured a difficult time in England and would probably prefer a move back to Germany, but with that off the table he now has some serious thinking to do.
He knows full well that he won’t receive many minutes at Old Trafford. And anybody looking in knows that he desperately needs a blank slate – a new start.
Should he decide that his next chapter is best spent at Arsenal – a club that, despite its inexorable decline under Arsene Wenger, would accommodate his style better than United – then Sanchez would be at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Having not recorded an assist since August, surely Mkhitaryan owes Jose Mourinho one here.
