Chelsea are on the lookout for a target man this month and the latest name to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Peter Crouch.
According to a report from the Telegraph, the Blues have lodged a surprise approach to Stoke City for their towering striker, as Antonio Conte aims to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window.
Chelsea have struggled in front of goal recently. Alvaro Morata is in a wretched spell of form, while Michy Batshuayi is also flattering to deceive in a Blues shirt.
This has led Conte to explore other options, and a host of other targets have been linked. Chelsea are keen to sign Andy Carroll from West Ham but David Moyes is said to be holding out for £20m from the sale of the England international. Fernando Llorente, who Conte wanted in the summer, is also being linked with a move to the Blues from Tottenham.
Crouch, 36, has enjoyed a successful career in the top flight and it seems he could be given the opportunity to play at a top six club for the last time in his career.
It’s stated in the report that Chelsea would prefer to take Crouch on an initial loan deal, but are aware that Stoke would likely need to find a replacement before letting their gigantic striker leave.
