Birmingham City are leading the race to sign Kasey Palmer on loan from Chelsea this month, the Express reports.
Palmer, who returned to Stamford Bridge recently from his loan spell at Huddersfield, will be looking be looking for regular first-team football elsewhere for the second half of the season.
Both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday are also believed to be in the hunt for the player, but Steve Cotterill’s men surprisingly lead the race.
Palmer played a key role in Huddersfield’s promotion to the Premier League last season but was unable to hold down a place in David Wagner’s side this season.
A hamstring injury delayed his start to the campaign and saw him fall out of favour at Huddersfield, despite Wagner admitting he was disappointed by Chelsea’s decision to recall the player.
Birmingham are currently joint-bottom of the Championship, two points away from safety. Fellow Chelsea youngster Jeremie Boga is also on loan at Birmingham.
