Thierry Henry reacts to Romelu Lukaku’s performance against Man City

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has explained why he feels sorry for Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian’s performance in the Manchester derby.

The Red Devils took on Manchester City at Old Trafford but failed to secure all three points in front of their home crowd.

David Silva kicked things off for the Sky Blues, scoring from close range after a defensive mishap from a set piece.

Marcus Rashford quickly equalised for Jose Mourinho’s men before half time but the second half saw City peg the team back again through Nicolas Otamendi.

Lukaku failed to find the net despite having a shot on target from point blank range and Henry has explained why he feels sorry for the forward.

According to Evening Standard, Thierry said: “As great as the save was, he has to hit the back of the net.

“I feel sorry for him because that’s what people are going to talk about tomorrow if the game stays like this.”

As unfortunate as the miss was for Romelu, he’ll actually be remembered for being involved in the defensive hiccups that led to Manchester City’s two goals.

After being accused of being unable to deliver vs the big teams, the former Everton man’s performance vs City will only help fuel that debate.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic slowly regaining match fitness, the Belgian’s time leading Manchester United’s forward line may be coming to an end.

Only time will tell how often Jose Mourinho plans to use the big Swede but perhaps he’ll have to rely on Ibrahimovic more than he thought he would this season.

Mourinho has already discussed previously that he’s happy with Lukaku’s performances even if the Belgian doesn’t score but surely the derby display will be the last straw.
