Manchester United will have to pay around £45million in January to bring Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose to the club.
Rose has been rumoured to be the replacement for out-of-favour Luke Shaw, the young English full-back who joined from Southampton for a then record-breaking £30m in 2014.
Shaw has been given very few chances under Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese became Man United manager in July 2016, and had been criticised under Louis van Gaal, too. A double leg break interrupted sensational form from Shaw and his United career hasn’t recovered since.
Spurs are now ready to let Danny Rose go if a club meets their £45m valuation of the England international, according to the Daily Star Sunday. The 27-year-old has criticised his club’s ambitions previously, frustrating Spurs as he complained about the wage structure.
He was linked to United then, with a return to the north of England always on the cards for the Doncaster-born defender.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is still frustrated by Rose’s lack of commitment to the club and will allow him to leave, having incurred Rose’s wrath recently by leaving him out of the side to face Arsenal in the North London derby.
st summer saw Pochettino allow Kyle Walker to leave for £50m as Manchester City coughed up the required fee to sign a full-back from the Premier League club.
Maybe Rose will follow this January. United rarely do big signings in Januar, but Mourinho needs a new left-back if he really doesn’t trust Shaw, which is a shame because he obviously has huge amounts of talent.
