Jose Mourinho is targeting a January move for Brazilian forward Malcolm with a possible £50m transfer fee.
The Bordeaux winger is viewed by the Manchester United manager as one of European football’s best young stars, according to the Daily Mail.
The report also states that Man United are prepared to pay around £33m for Malcolm.
United and Bordeaux have already begun talks over a January transfer for Malcolm. However, the 20-year-old would return immediately to his current club on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Malcolm signed for the French side from Corinthians last year, and has drawn great interest from Europe’s top clubs already. Arsenal have been regular watches of the player, continually sending scouts to check on his progress across the channel.
He’s scored seven goals in 18 Ligue 1 games for Bordeaux this season and that form has led to them asking for over £50m for their new talent. United won’t pay that much, with the Mail suggesting a fee of around £33m is more likely.
Mourinho is reportedly desperate to do business in January, and it’s suggested that he has claimed that Malcolm could become a huge success in English football.
A loan-back deal is sensible for United. It allows continued first-team football for Malcolm, makes a deal more realistic, with Bordeaux not losing one of their most important players, and could mean United get their target for a lesser fee.
