Manchester United have set a low asking price of just £20million for young left-back Luke Shaw, according to The Independent.
The Englishman joined the Reds from Southampton for a then world-record fee of nearly £30m as he became the world’s most expensive teenager.
His potential and talent were obvious, but he struggled in Louis van Gaal’s first season at Man United. The start of Shaw’s second term at the club saw him rocket into fantastic form before a horrific leg break against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League ruled him out from September until the next season.
Shaw’s played just 47 minutes for United this season as his struggles continue under Jose Mourinho. He needs gametime to earn a place in England’s FIFA 2018 World Cup squad, the main reason for him looking for a new club given that he previously had been reluctant to leave United.
Mourinho is willing to let Shaw leave in the January transfer window, with a number of clubs interest.
Newcastle United are looking at taking Shaw on loan, unable to afford a permanent deal for the 21-year-old.
Shaw has revealed his desire to play under Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, having played under the Argentine while at Southampton. But that would mean Danny Rose leaving Spurs, coincidentally, or perhaps not, a player strongly linked to Manchester United.
