Manchester United veteran Antonio Valencia has called on his club to consistently pick up wins no matter what happens.
United are currently in second place in the Premier League table as the side head into the busy winter period.
Matches come thick and fast at this time of the year and there’s the old age cliche that team’s who navigate their way through the Christmas period successfully often finish the season well too.
Fierce rivals Manchester City currently lead the table with a whopping 11 point gap between themselves and the Red Devils.
Manager Jose Mourinho has instructed his players to focus on each match as it comes and Valencia has reiterated the statement, setting targets for himself and his teammates.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Antonio said: “The important thing we have to do now is win. We can’t really afford to lose or even draw, it’s about focusing ourselves and our objectives on winning as many games as we can and hoping that anyone above us slips up now and again.
“When it’s a packed fixture calendar like we have currently, it’s really important to follow step by step what the physios and medical team give us in terms of advice.
“It might be about how we recuperate, what we eat… anything that can help aid the recovery period between games because we have one every few days.
It’s always really important to take their advice but especially when it’s a very packed schedule like it is now.”
Antonio Valencia himself has been in impressive form this season, building on last season’s success in the right back position.
The winger initially struggled in adjusting to his new position on the right side of the defence but finally took off under Mourinho in his first season in charge of the club.
Jose quickly announced to the world that the Ecuadorian was certainly the world’s best right back, such was Valencia’s rise in form.
Despite entering in the latter stages of his career, he can’t look even more assured in his role or the safety in his position in the starting XI.
Matteo Darmian is his only real competitor and it’s fair to say that there would be no shocks if the Italian left the club in the summer.
