Manchester United are closely monitoring the progress of 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho has made clear his ambition to sign a winger to supplement his attacking line-up, making unsuccessful bids to sign Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale last summer.
The American, who recently became the youngest ever U.S. ‘Player of the Year’, noted in September 2016 that he would be tempted by an offer from Man United.
And according to the Mail Online‘s Simon Jones, Man United have pin-pointed Pulisic as a potential option ahead of the summer transfer window.
United desperately lack the extra dimension provided by a traditionally quick, get-t0-the-byline kind of winger and Pulisic has the tools at his disposal to provide exactly that.
He is best described as a slippery customer, capable of beating defenders on both sides and remarkably quick with his feet. The U.S. international tends to stay further out wide while Andriy Yarmolenko cuts infield on the other side to stretch back fours, giving Dortmund a varied attacking dynamic.
His crossing and decision making in the final third can still improve, of course, but the raw markings are there for a potentially devastating talent, although some fans may want Jose Mourinho to focus on securing an established, internationally feared talent – someone like Gareth Bale – next summer instead.
